Stephen S. Wise Temple Schools (SSWT)
SSWT operates Stephen S. Wise Elementary School (K-6), Bel Air Center (7-8), and Milken Community High School (9-12) located in the Mulholland Drive area of Los Angeles County, California.

Milken Community High School (MCHS)
MCHS is a new advanced technology high school. During the past four years, WTA has provided technology planning, design, e-rate application preparation and submission, bid development, and onsite technology implementation management services for this comprehensive high school.

MFF News Release - Milken Community High School Dedication
Nation's largest non-orthodox Jewish high school officially opens doors to new facility regarded as nationwide model for learning technology.

Milken Community High School, a school of the Stephen S. Wise Temple, held a ceremony on Sunday, September 13, 1998, at 2:00 p.m., to dedicate its new, state-of-the-art campus, ...Classes began at the new campus on September 8, 1998.

Special guests at the dedication included Milken Family Foundation co-founders Lowell and Michael Milken; keynote speaker Dr. David Baltimore, Nobel Prize-winning biologist and President of the California Institute of Technology; and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski.

...The facility is unique in the nation because of the full integration of technology. Every classroom on the new campus is wired for the Internet, and all faculty are being provided with a laptop computer, professional instructional technology training, up-to-date software and extensive technical support. The facilities also include fully-equipped science laboratories, an auditorium/gymnasium with flexible seating, and a broadcast studio.

The next phase of construction on the new campus also commenced on the day of the dedication. The academic hall, which will complete the four-building campus, will contain fifteen additional state-of-the-art classrooms, additional science labs, and departmental offices.

"Just as Israel is second only to the United States in startup new technology companies, so the Milken Community High School will be a nationwide model for learning technology combined with advanced Judaic studies," said Rabbi Isaiah Zeldin, senior rabbi and founder.

Stephen S. Wise Elementary School (SWES)
SWES is a large elementary school. During the past two years WTA has provided technology planning, design, e-rate application preparation and submission, bid development, and technology implementation management services for this elementary school.

The following comments are from the SSWT Director, Information Technology Services:

"... In 1997 WTA was selected to develop a technology master plan, design infrastructure and other technology systems, prepare bid documents, manage the implementation phase of the project, and prepare all post-implementation documentation for the new Milken Community High School... the scope was expanded to include our large elementary and middle schools, as well as the Stephen S. Wise Temple administrative offices.

The integrated technology systems design for the Milken Community High School, Bel Air Center Middle School, and Stephen S. Wise Elementary School includes future proof infrastructure cable systems, data- communications, video conferencing (high school/middle school), remote access tele- communications, multi-media distribution, Satellite/ CATV systems, and a video production/broadcast center at the high school. The total cost of both phases of the technology project for the three schools exceeds four million dollars.

Prior to implementation, the high school/middle school and elementary school design proposals were each reviewed by Intel Corporation. In each instance WTA received very high marks for the technical design characteristics of their recommendations, school-level appropriateness, as well as the design implementation process.

...WTA completed the projects under budget. .. One of the most significant characteristics of the WTA bid-project management process was that there were no vendor initiated change orders...

In summary, WTA provided the guidance and technical expertise necessary to make this visionary technology school a reality..."

Intel Corporation Design Review for Stephen S. Wise Elementary School (SWES)
The following comments are from the Intel Corporation Design Review authored by the Director of Trusted Networking Architecture Services:

"As with the high school plan, Carl and his team have done an incredibly thorough job of designing a future-proof network for the elementary school. The hierarchical network that he's specified should have excellent headroom for today and tomorrow's applications, and provides the appropriate media (fiber optic, category 5(e), and coaxial) that will allow for minimal cost upgrades as technology continues to advance...

...All in all, this is an excellent plan, and the level of detail provided by Carl and his team should make it very clear what's desired. This level of clarity should be very beneficial in both the bidding and installation process. As I'm sure you're aware, it looks like the team has been through this a number of times and does a very professional job..."
